Klaus Kampe

Klaus Kampe (* 20th century) is a German educator .

Life

From 1958 to 1966, Klaus Kampe studied philology (English and Romance languages) and politics in Göttingen, Geneva and Freiburg. During his studies he held the position of assistant teacher at Adam's Grammar School in Newport (Salop), England. He was then appointed as Fellow and Director of Studies at Magdalene College, Cambridge University between 1966 and 1968 . From 1968 to 2002 he worked as a teacher for French, English and politics in Bad Harzburg. From 1977 he worked as director of studies and head of teacher training at the study seminar in Braunschweig. In 1987 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with a topic about the English boarding school novels public schools novels .

Services

In 1972 he was the initiator and founding president of the German-French Society in Bad Harzburg and became a member of the Association of German-French Societies in Germany and France. Until 2002 he was president of the company. During this time he also initiated several school partnerships and a town twinning between Bad Harzburg and Port-Louis in Brittany . He was awarded the Bad Harzburg and Port-Louis Citizens' Medal. From 2003 to 2004 he was the governor of Lions International for the NH District.

In 2002 he founded the international school advisory service for boarding schools in England, based in Berlin, Braunschweig and Cambridge. In his dissertation, Kampe described the influence of the English public school novel on English education.

Awards

  • In 1987 he was awarded the Orden Palmes académiques Republic of France for services to Franco-German understanding in the presence of the French Consul General.

  • 1996 School Master Commoner and Visiting Fellow at Magdalene College Cambridge
