Klaus Bang
Klaus Knall (born September 23, 1936 in Schäßburg (today Sighișoara) ) is a German conductor and cantor who comes from Transylvania , which is now part of Romania.
Knall received his basic training from Viktor Bickerich in Kronstadt (today Brașov) . He then studied at the music academies in Cluj-Napoca and Freiburg im Breisgau and completed his training with the so-called “Cantor A” exam and additional training in orchestral conducting .
After seven years as a cantor at the Christ Church in Freiburg im Breisgau , Knall headed the choirs of the Basler Minster ( Basler Münsterkantorei ), the Bern Minster ( Berner Kantorei ) and the Grossmünster in Zurich between 1972 and 1996 . For a short time he was also chief conductor of the Knabenkantorei Basel (1982–1983); He gave up this direction after a year due to lack of time, whereupon the choir was taken over by Beat Raaflaub . From 1981 to 1996 Knall also worked as a cantor school director at the Institute for Church Music in Zurich. From 1997 Knall performed recurring throughout Switzerland with the Collegium Vocale choir from Zurich.
