Klaus Penzer (born March 22, 1950 in Selzen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 2014 he was mayor of the Rhineland-Palatinate community of Nierstein-Oppenheim . Since 2014 he has been the full-time mayor of the newly formed community of Rhein-Selz from the municipalities of Nierstein-Oppenheim and Guntersblum . He won the election on May 25, 2014 against his challenger Michael Stork ( CDU ) with 58.85 percent of the votes.

Prosecutor's investigation

In the course of the investigation against Marcus Held , Klaus Penzer was also targeted by the Mainz public prosecutor. He is said to have unchecked illegal payments to broker offices - and approved in favor of his fellow party member Marcus Held. In addition, the municipality of Rhein-Selz suffered four-digit damage from Penzer's improper use of his own company car. From January 2018, the public prosecutor's office investigated Klaus Penzer on suspicion of breach of trust in seven cases. The investigations into the brokerage fees were closed on March 28, 2019. The senior public prosecutor could not find any deliberate illegal actions by Penzer. Penzer paid for the damage suffered by the association even before the public prosecutor's office announced it. An equal amount of money is to be paid to social projects.
