Old Dailly is a scattered settlement in the Scottish council area of South Ayrshire . It is located around 23 km south of Ayr and five kilometers east of Girvan . The Penwhapple Burn , the outflow from the Penwhapple Reservoir , a reservoir that supplies Girvan with water, flows through Old Dailly . Immediately north of the settlement, the Penwhapple Burn flows into the Water of Girvan .

The Baron's Stone is a boulder at a ford near the village. The striking granite rock , about twelve meters in length and estimated at 37 tons, served in the past as a meeting place and court. Old Dailly is within the catchment area of four forts, Penkill Castle , Killochan Castle , Bargany House and Camregan Castle . It developed as an agricultural settlement. Stone was also quarried there. In the 1760s, Dailly , also called New Dailly , was built five kilometers to the northeast. In 1991, 200 people lived in Old Dailly.

Old Dailly is on the B734. This connects the town in the west to the A77 ( Glasgow - Portpatrick ) and in the south to the A714 ( Wigtown - Girvan). The nearest train station is in Girvan. With the Glasgow Prestwick Airport is an international airport located about 30 km north.
