Klaus Peter Hauptka

Klaus Peter Haupka (* 17th June 1946 ) is a former racing cyclist and cycling - functionary .

Life

Klaus Peter Haupka was considered Werner Potzernheim's best student in his younger years and was successful on cycle tracks on the tandem and in the sprint .

After he later assumed the office of deputy president of the Lower Saxony cycling association , he was elected president of the Lower Saxony association, which was organized as a club, in 1993 to succeed Heinz Ewert. At the same time, Hauptka was chairman of the Hanover cycling club in 1994, and from 1982 to 1996 he was also chairman of the Hanover cycling community, of which he was subsequently appointed honorary chairman.

In 2003 Hauptka also became a member of the strategy commission of the Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) and in the same year took over the duties of spokesman for the regional associations of the BDR presidium.

At the beginning of December 2015, Klaus Peter Haupka was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the Lord Mayor of Hanover Stefan Schostok on behalf of the Federal President due to his longstanding commitment to cycling .
