Klaus Preller

Klaus Preller (born October 13, 1939 in Aachen ) is a former German basketball referee and player.

Life

Preller came to basketball through Ernst Michalowski , his then sports teacher.

He was in the 1959/60 and 1963/64 squad of SSV Hagen in the basketball league . From 1964 to 1966 he coached the men's team of TSV Fichte Hagen, between 1973 and 1976 Preller served as chairman of the basketball department at Fichte Hagen. In 1975 he was a founding member of BG DEK / Fichte Hagen. Later he also worked as a trainer at TuS Iserlohn .

In 1955 he made his C, and in 1957 his B referee license. In 1967 he passed the A referee examination. From 1970 he sat on the referee committee of the district of Hagen and belonged to it for more than 30 years. From 1973 to 1987 Preller headed around 600 games in the basketball Bundesliga as a referee , after which he was a technical inspector in the Bundesliga and from 1985 to 1992 he was also responsible as a referee functionary for the appointments of the referee teams in the federal leagues. He had previously held this position for the West German Basketball Association .

From 1987 Preller belonged to the referee commission of the German Basketball Federation , in 1992 he became chairman of this committee. In May 2011 he was made an honorary member of the Hagen basketball circle.

From 1970 onwards, Preller was employed in a managerial position in the IT department at the city of Unna ; in 1998 he took early retirement.
