Klaus Scheelhaase (engineer)

Klaus Scheelhaase (born June 25, 1932 in Fallersleben ) is a former senior civil servant of the city of Hanover , a graduate engineer and professor.

Life

After studying and working for the first time in Berlin , Scheelhaase headed the Hanover subway construction office from 1967 to 1994 and is considered the "father" of the Hanover city railway . City planning officer Rudolf Hillebrecht hired him in 1965 because he had a wide range of administrative knowledge and experience in public relations. His work influenced the way from the "Unterpflaster-Straßenbahn" to the light rail system as a cost-saving mixture of underground and tram . At Raschplatz he wanted a building ensemble like Marina City or Habitat 67 .

From 1978 to 1998 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Hanover and also as a consulting engineer for the planning and construction of traffic systems.
