Klaus Schimmöller

Klaus Schimmöller (born April 18, 1941 in Rosenheim ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman.

Life

Schimmöller was ordained a priest for the diocese of Eichstätt in 1967 and became a chaplain in Schwabach . After further studies, he became head of training in the school department and cathedral vicar in 1972 . In 1983 he was appointed head of the school department and cathedral chapter . Since 1984 he has been a diocesan judge at the Episcopal Office . In 1991 he was elected deputy chairman of the conference of heads of school departments of the German dioceses and then from 1996 to 2001 chairman. In 2004 he was elected as dean of the cathedral . In 2008 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Honorary Prelate of His Holiness and received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in October 2008 . In 2010 he was appointed provost of the cathedral and retired a year later. Since then he has been working in Gerolfing .

As the first former member of the cathedral chapter, he was critical of the audit report on the financial scandal in the Eichstätt diocese, which was published in February 2019.
