Klaus Schrotthofer

Klaus Schrotthofer (* 1966 in Neuburg an der Donau ) is a German journalist .

Life

Klaus Schrotthofer began his professional career in 1988 as a trainee at Augsburger Allgemeine . After completing his training, he stayed there until 1992 as a political editor. Between 1992 and 1994 he worked as a correspondent in Bonn for various German daily newspapers and then for another three years exclusively for the news magazine Focus .

In 1996 he became the chief editor of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and between 1999 and 2001 he was the editor-in-chief of the Berliner Zeitung . From 2002 to 2004 Schrotthofer acted as spokesman for Federal President Johannes Rau . From November 2004 to the end of 2007 he was editor-in-chief of the Westfälische Rundschau in Dortmund .

Since January 1, 2008, he has been one of two managing directors of the Thuringia newspaper group in Erfurt, which, like the Westfälische Rundschau, belongs to the WAZ group . At the end of 2012, Schrotthofer announced his departure from ZGT because he wanted to devote himself to new tasks. On February 24, 2014 it was announced that Schrotthofer will act as managing director of Mediengruppe Neue Westfälische from March 1, 2014 .
