Klaus Schubert (linguist)

Klaus Schubert (born July 4, 1954 ) is a German linguist and professor at the University of Hildesheim . His research area there is communication optimization. Together with Leona Van Vaerenbergh he is the editor of the online magazine trans-kom.

Life

Klaus Schubert studied physics and computer science at the University of Hamburg as well as general linguistics and Slavic and Scandinavian philology at the University of Kiel and the University of Uppsala . From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a sociolinguist at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and then until 1990 as a computer linguist and project manager in language technology research and development in the software house BSO / Buro voor Systeemontwikkeling BV in Utrecht ( Netherlands ); from 1990 to 1992 he worked as a consultant at BSO / Language Technology BV in Baarn (Netherlands). From 1992 to 2009 he taught at the Flensburg University of Applied Sciences as a professor of language data processing and technical translation before he accepted the call from the University of Hildesheim. Klaus Schubert has been a professor at the Institute for Translation Studies and Specialized Communication in Hildesheim since 2009. His main research interests are applied linguistics , specialist communication , translation studies , interlinguistics and language technology .
