Klaus Daughtermann (rower)

Klaus Daughtermann (* 1926 or 1927; † March 23, 2017 ) was a German rowing athlete.

Career

Klaus Daughtermann was interested in rowing from an early age. He initially rowed for the Heilbronner Rudergesellschaft Schwaben and switched to the Mannheim rowing club Amicitia from 1876 in 1951 . From 1947 to 1951 he was four times German runner-up in the four with helmsman , in 1948 he took third place. With Mannheim in 1953 he was German champion in the eighth position with Walter Salzmann , Dieter Kempf , Heinrich Blank , daughter man, Paul Deblitz , Siegfried Kuhlmey-Becker , Manfred Bartholomä , Rolf Alles and helmsman Hans Bichelmeier . In 1954 Mannheim won again at the German Championships in eighth position, three rowers from the previous year had been replaced. Finally, after his return to the foursome with helmsman in 1955, he was also German master in this discipline together with Paul Deblitz, Hermann Schüler , Hubert Eckert and Hans Bichelmeier.

After his time with the Mannheimer Amicitia he moved back to Heilbronn to the Heilbronner Rudergesellschaft Schwaben there. There he became deputy chairman of the club in 1962 and its rowing coach since 1965. In 1967 he was elected chairman of his association, an office he held until 1976. After his resignation from the office of chairman of the Heilbronn rowing society, he was appointed honorary chairman of his club. He died in 2017 at the age of 90.

For his sporting success he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on December 1, 1953 by Federal President Theodor Heuss .
