Klaus Vechtel

Klaus Vechtel SJ (born October 10, 1963 in Dormagen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

After high school at Norbert Gymnasium Knechtsteden 1983 he studied from 1983 to 1985 Catholic theology at the University of Bonn and from 1985 to 1988 Catholic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He passed his bachelor's degree in Catholic theology in 1988. From 1988 to 1989 he completed the pastoral year in Cologne . He was ordained a priest in 1989. From 1989 to 1991 he did a licentiate degree in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana. He completed his novitiate (1991–1993) with the Society of Jesus. From 1993 to 1997 he was subregens in the seminary of Sankt Georgen. He was released from 1997 to 2000 to study for a doctorate at the PTH Sankt Georgen . After obtaining his doctorate in Catholic theology in 2000, he was spiritual at the Pontificium Collegium Germanicum et Hungaricum de Urbe from 2000 to 2007 . Since 2007 he has been teaching at the PTH Sankt Georgen where he was hired as a lecturer for dogmatics in 2009. After completing his habilitation in 2013 at the University of Mainz with a thesis on eschatology and freedom. On the question of post-mortem perfection in the theology of Karl Rahner and Hans Urs von Balthasar , he was appointed Professor of Dogmatics at the PTH Sankt Georgen in 2014 .
