Klaus W. Hoffmann (born April 10, 1947 in Dortmund ) is a German writer and songwriter .

Life

After finishing school, Hoffmann did a commercial apprenticeship . After a few years of professional activity, he studied business administration and then worked as a business economist for seven years in a data center in Dortmund.

In 1975 he published his first sound carrier with new songs for children. This was followed by other recordings with songs and radio plays and book publications.

At the end of the 1970s, Klaus W. Hoffmann wrote film music (song “I am curious” and musical variations) for the feature film “The Red Stocking” (director: Wolfgang Tumler; leading actresses: Inge Meysel and Julie Tumler). Hoffmann also wrote songs for other artists (e.g. “Herr Gelb und Frau Blau”, “I know a garden” for a sound carrier production with Katja Ebstein ).

In 1982 his first children's book was published with short stories, song texts and poems for children. This was followed by books for children and young people (among others by Ravensburger , Arena and Loewe ) and educational non-fiction books for adults. The television program “ Sendung mit der Maus ” took over many of his songs and turned them into cartoons.

Klaus W. Hoffmann has been a freelance writer and songwriter since 1981 . In the 1980s he had television and radio appearances with children's songs (e.g. HR , WDR and RIAS ). For the RIAS Berlin he moderated several programs in the series "Panther & Co" and wrote the manuscripts for them. He presented his children's songs solo and with accompanying musicians on numerous stages. He read from his books in many libraries and schools.

Klaus W. Hoffmann has lived with his wife Elke Bannach-Hoffmann in Renneritz , Saxony-Anhalt , since 2010 . Here he has written and published several historical and contemporary stories and novels for adults and young people, but also stories for children of primary school age.

Klaus W. Hoffmann is a member of the PEN , the Association of German Writers (VS), the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis Niedersachsen eV and the Kulturwerk deutscher Writers Sachsen-Anhalt eV
