Klaus Zander (born September 6, 1956 in Cologne ) is a former German basketball player .

Klaus Zander made his debut in 1973 at ASV Köln in the basketball league . When he moved from the ASV team to the BSC Saturn Cologne in 1977 , the 2.10 meter center was already a top performer for the Cologne team and when the BSC renamed Galatasaray Cologne after the main sponsor withdrew in 1988, Zander was still there in 1990 he ended his career. In 1981, 1982, 1987 and 1988 Zander won the German championship with the BSC Saturn Cologne , in 1980, 1981 and 1983 he won the cup . In total, Klaus Zander scored 5252 points in the basketball league.

From 1975 Zander played in the national team and completed a total of 142 games. The highlight of his international career was participation in the 1984 Olympic Games . Zander played in eight games, scored 67 points and ended up in eighth place with the German team. In 1980, Zander was the first German basketball player to be appointed to the European team.

During his career, Klaus Zander completed a sports degree at the German Sport University Cologne and is now employed in the sports department of the city of Cologne.
