The small church Oranienbaum in the town of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt is under monument protection and is registered in the monument register with registration number 094 40395 as a monument . The church was profaned in the 20th century .

Location and history

The church was built in the years 1751 and 1752 north of the castle of Oranienbaum on the Wittenberger Straße near the pagoda of the castle park for the Lutheran congregation, which until then had to go to Goltewitz because the town church was reformed . It was designed as a simultaneous church . The client, Prince Leopold II. Maximilian (Anhalt-Dessau) died during the execution and was replaced by Prince Dietrich von Anhalt-Dessau , who acted as guardian of Hereditary Prince Franz . The inauguration took place on June 4, 1752 by both princes.

The sacred building was already in disrepair in 1817 and had to be closed. After a long effort, the repair took place in 1824, the re-consecration took place on December 5, 1824. In 1834 Zuberbier (Dessau) created a new organ. Penetrating moisture severely affected the church and organ. As early as 1842 it was again considered dilapidated. The walls had gone out of alignment and it was suggested that it be demolished. Instead, it was restored again in 1844. The half-timbered storey was completely redesigned with Wörlitz bricks, and the new inauguration took place in November 1844. The roof tower was slightly changed in 1853. After the First World War , the chaplaincy was moved and the church closed.

Interior and outfit

The oldest bell came from Becker (Halle), another was added in 1824 by GA Jauck (Leipzig). The clocks came from Kleinhanß. The sacred building was initially offered for sale in 1920 and then converted into a residential building due to the housing shortage.
