Oranienbaum-Wörlitz is a town in the district of Wittenberg in Saxony-Anhalt , which was created on January 1, 2011 through the merger of the towns of Oranienbaum and Wörlitz and some neighboring communities.

Oranienbaum-Wörlitz is mainly located in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve south of the Elbe . West of Vockerode , after the Elbe straightening in 1933/34, near the Sieglitzer Berg am Kurzen Wurf, an area now north of the Elbe of just a few hectares near Klieken was created .

The city is located on the so-called Orange Route . Extensive pine forests spread out towards the south - the northern foothills of the Düben Heath .

In the north of the city lies Coswig (Anhalt) , in the northeast the Lutherstadt Wittenberg , in the east Kemberg , in the south Graefenhainichen and in the west the independent city Dessau-Roßlau .

The city of Oranienbaum-Wörlitz was created in 2011 through the legal reorganization of the GemNeuglG WB, the cities and municipalities were until then part of the administrative community of Wörlitzer Winkel .

Uwe Zimmermann (Die Linke) was elected mayor of the city on November 7, 2010 with 58.6 percent of the valid votes. On September 24, 2017, Maik Strömer (CDU) was elected as his successor for a term of seven years with 69.7 percent of the valid votes. He took office on January 11, 2018.

The coat of arms was approved by the district on August 16, 2011.

Blazon : "In silver a green orange tree with nine golden fruits, growing from a green shield base covered with a silver acorn in a golden capsule between two outwardly inclined golden oak leaves, above a leaping red-armored black boar."

The coat of arms was designed by the local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and, in the sense of pars pro toto, connects parts of the coat of arms of the places Oranienbaum (orange tree), Wörlitz (boar) and Vockerode (oak leaves with acorns), whereby the oak leaves with acorns also represent the surrounding villages, because the oak is typical of the natural environment of the region, in which there are many mighty solitary oaks and oak forests.

Oranienbaum-Wörlitz is located with the train stations Oranienbaum (Anh) and Wörlitz as well as the demand stop Kapen on the Dessau – Wörlitz railway line , which is only used in the summer season.

As of January 1, 2019, 6544 motor vehicles were registered here, including 546 motorcycles, 5126 cars , of which 317 were commercial cars, 546 trucks and 273 tractors in agriculture and forestry .
