coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on May 10, 2011 by the Wittenberg district.

Blazon : “Diagonally square of silver and blue, at the top a blue carp swimming to the left, in front and behind a golden ear of wheat with stalk leaves at the bottom a blue pike. A three-towered red castle with an open archway grows in the golden central shield of a wavy blue shield base; the towers with black windows and bellied red pointed roofs; the middle tower is raised, with ledges and stronger than the others. "

The coat of arms designed by the local heraldist Jörg Mantzsch combines elements of the coats of arms of the eponymous districts of Zahna and Elster (Elbe) as well as the previous administrative community. While the middle shield refers to Zahna with reduced symbolism and changed tinctures, the fish refer to the earlier fishing, the ears of wheat to the agricultural tradition of the villages.

The city's colors are blue and white.

flag

The flag is blue and white (1: 1) striped (cross shape: stripes running horizontally; lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
