history

Between 1486 and 1490 the Saxon office of Zahna was merged into the office of Wittenberg . The place then remained for over 300 years as part of the Wittenberg office in the Saxon spa district , which became part of the Kingdom of Saxony in 1806 . After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Rahnsdorf in the Wittenberg district of the Province of Saxony became Prussian. This district survived both world wars until it was divided up in 1952 by the district and new district formation in the GDR.

The newly formed Wittenberg district in the Halle district belonged to a lower administrative level, which means that until the political change in 1989, it united far fewer communities than its namesake and predecessor, in addition to Rahnsdorf. In 1990 the federal states were re-established . With the merger of the old districts of Wittenberg, Jessen and Graefenhainichen in 1994, the place becomes part of the district of Wittenberg that still exists today .

The core of the stone church in Rahnsdorf dates from the 13th century and was later supplemented by a baroque tower that is not typical for Fläming. It houses a bellows organ that needs care . Further cultural monuments of the place are the adjoining rectory and the Heßler mill. The former rectory is now privately owned, the rectory garden opens its doors once a year as one of many open gardens in Saxony-Anhalt.

The village is partially developed for tourism through the Berlin – Leipzig cycle path . Due to the sandy soil of the region, the unpaved field, forest and meadow paths are only partially suitable for cycling. They were preferably marked as riding and hiking trails. Every year the Easter bonfire takes place in the spring and the village festival in the summer months.

economy

The village and the surrounding area are dominated by agriculture. By land collectivization from the time before liberation related field sizes ensure not only at harvest time for rain operation of large machines. With the transition of the existing since 1974 LPGEN Merry youth and free farmers in 1992 in the Agrofarm Fläming Rand GmbH , conditions changed in favor of crops construction . Between 1996 and 1997 pig and cattle production was stopped in the village in neighboring Klebitz .

Today the Rahnsdorf oil mill produces cold-pressed linseed oil every day . Riding stables support ecological tourism. Almost all goods and services are obtained from outside, there are no shops next to the farm shops.

The village is reached on school days by bus route 376, which runs from Zahna via the stations Rahnsdorf, Klebitz, Zahna, Bülzig and Labetz to Wittenberg and back. In addition to the fixed travel times, the line is available as a dial-a-bus every 60 minutes on weekdays.
