The lesser neck buck or pale bloom buck ( Pseudovadonia livida , Syn . : Leptura livida , Vadonia livida ) is a longhorn beetle of the Palearctic .

features

The beetle becomes 5 to 10 millimeters long and has an almost spherical pronotum . The elytra are brownish-yellow in color. The small cervical buck under the microscope differs from similar species by its double-pointed scutellum .

Occurrence

The distribution area extends in several subspecies from Central and Southern Europe via Asia Minor and Syria to the Caucasus, Iran and Lake Baikal . Apart from Denmark, the species is absent in Northern Europe. In Germany, the lesser neckbuck is common from the plain to the tree line.

Way of life

The larva develops within two years in humus soil mixed with the carnation swindler ( Marasmius oreades ). The beetles appear from May to early July. They are avid flower visitors, especially on umbellifers , yarrow and scabiosis .
