The Kleine Papstgraben is being built in the southern part of the municipality of Kainach near Voitsberg , in the central part of the cadastral municipality of Kohlschwarz on the southern slope of the Kohlschwarzkogel , southeast of the main town of Kainach near Voitsberg, west of the Wurzer farm. It flows first in a flat curve to the right and then in a flat curve to the left to the south-west. In the center of the Kohlschwarz cadastral community, it flows southeast of the main town Kainach near Voitsberg, south of Hof Gurz and west of Hof Wurzer directly west of the L341 into the Kainach, which turns left shortly afterwards. On its course, the Kleine Papstgraben takes on an unnamed watercourse from the left.
