The small -clawed or Congo finger otter ( Aonyx capensis congicus ) is a species of predator from the subfamily of otters (Lutrinae) widespread in Central Africa . The status is unclear and it is also considered a separate species Aonyx congicus .

The small-clawed finger otter is slightly smaller than the nominate form of the capotter ( A. capensis capensis ). The females are slightly smaller than the males. The body reaches a head-trunk length of about 85 centimeters, the tail of the males is about 50 centimeters long. The body color is brown, the lower half of the story with the upper lips and the sides of the face, the neck, the throat and the belly are gray-white in color. There are white sensory hairs (vibrissae) on the upper and lower jaw, the eyes and ears are small.

The small-clawed finger otter is widespread in central Africa in the rainforest in the Congo Basin . Its distribution area includes Equatorial Guinea , Gabon , the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo as well as southern Cameroon , the Central African Republic , northern Angola and parts of Rwanda , Burundi and Uganda .
