Kleinmond (German: "Small Mouth") is a town with 6,634 inhabitants (as of 2011) in the municipality of Overstrand , District Overberg , Western Cape Province in South Africa . The former fishing village is 25 kilometers northwest of Hermanus in the center of the Fynbos Floral Kingdom - a world-wide unique flora and fauna, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .

Surname

Since the mouth of the nearby Botrivier was blocked for a long time by a sandbank, it flowed through a smaller tributary into the sea.

history

This coastal area has been inhabited for around 20,000 years. Already in 1860 the place was used as a summer vacation spot for the farmers from Caledon , today there are around 20,000 tourists in addition to the permanent residents during the vacation season.
