Type CC is a miniature submarine of the Italian Navy , which was designed during the Second World War in early 1943 in collaboration with the Caproni Taliedo factory in Milan . The background to this was the requirement of the Italian naval command for a 100 t micro submarine that was to be manufactured in large series. The same order was also placed with the Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico shipyard ( CRDA ) in Monfalcone , whose concept was given the type designation CM .

The prototypes developed by the Caproni works had three 45 cm standard torpedoes as primary armament , which were to be shot down at the nose. The crew consisted of eight men, two of whom were officers. This should enable an uninterrupted rotation of the crew members in order to guarantee longer operating times. The three shell ships built by Cassibile up to the armistice were given the designations CC 1 , CC 2 and CC 3 , with CC standing for Costiero Caproni . Construction stopped just a few days after Italy left the war; the three boats were subsequently dismantled.
