features

The smallest crocus is a perennial tuber geophyte that reaches heights of 4 to 7 centimeters. The tuber shell is only parallel-fiber. The leaves are 0.5 to 1 millimeter wide. The Perigonzipfel are 20 to 27 millimeters long. The anthers are just as long as the stamens.

The flowering time is in March, it rarely lasts until April.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24-30.

Occurrence

The smallest crocus occurs in southern Sardinia, Corsica and the island of Capri . The species grows on grus on granite at altitudes from 0 to 1500 meters.
