Climbing wall on the Altjoch near Kochel

The climbing area Kochel is a sport climbing and bouldering area on the northern edge of the Alps around the Kochelsee . The limestone area has more than 500 routes and just as many boulders on more than 30 rock faces. The individual sectors are between 8 and 55 meters high, most of the routes are in the seventh French difficulty level or above.

The rock faces are mostly vertical to slightly overhanging , the climbing is considered technically demanding. The rock is partly brittle, which is why loose handles and steps were attached with Sika in some routes and bouldering. A wall directly on the Kochelsee is used for deep water soloing .

The area includes the area around the mountains Sonnenspitz, Jochberg , Herzogstand and Rötelstein. The developers include Toni Lamprecht , Thomas Bucher , Sepp Gschwendtner and Stefan Glowacz .
