CliniClowns or clinic clowns are the names of associations that support the healing and recovery process of sick people through clown doctors .

history

The non-profit association CliniClowns-Austria was founded in September 1991 in the General Hospital of the City of Vienna (AKH Vienna) on the initiative of the cardiologist Suzanne Rödler as an association for the promotion and research of the care of sick people by clowns . The association took up the idea of ​​hospital clowns , which originated in the USA , and was mainly driven by Patch Adams , and carried out the first clown visits in Europe in the children's dialysis ward . Former Mayor Helmut Zilk was the association's patron . The first CliniClown couple in Europe were the doctor Roman Szeliga and the actress Kathy Tanner.

On November 14, 2001, “CliniClowns-Austria” was one of the first 44 organizations to receive the Austrian Donation Seal of Approval.
