The Klinikum am Plattenwald is a hospital in Bad Friedrichshall . It is the second largest clinic in the association of SLK-Kliniken Heilbronn GmbH.

history

From 1977 to 2003 the clinic was known as the district hospital

In 1962 the Heilbronn district council decided to build a district hospital on the Plattenwald for basic and standard care. In March 1974, the district council elected the future chief physicians who would be involved in the further planning of the hospital . Two months later, on May 6th, the foundation stone for the building was laid. It was the largest construction project in the Heilbronn district to date . After three years of construction, the hospital was put into operation on July 1, 1977 with 447 beds. It took over the functions of the Neckarsulm Municipal Hospital, which was dissolved and demolished. In 2003, the Plattenwald district hospital was further expanded and renamed “Klinikum am Plattenwald”. The Klinikum am Plattenwald has been part of the SLK-Kliniken Heilbronn GmbH group since January 2001 .

New building

In February 2012 the groundbreaking ceremony for the new clinic at the Plattenwald took place. A seven-story building with a total area of 49,000 square meters and around 350 patient beds was built in a four-year construction period. Seven new operating theaters were built, including a hybrid operating room, in which surgery and imaging control take place at the same time. The clinic building, which cost 140 million euros, was inaugurated on May 13, 2016, and employees and patients moved into the new clinic on June 4, 2016.

Due to the upcoming hospital closure in Möckmühl, the reserve level will be expanded in 2018, creating space for a further 71 beds. The demolition work on the old slab forest building began in spring 2018.
