The Coëtmaloën Monastery (Silva Melonis, Coatmaluen; Koad Malouen, Breton Abati Koadmalaouen , French Abbaye Notre-Dame de Coatmalouen ) is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Kerpert in the Côtes-d'Armor department , Brittany region , in France . It is located around 20 kilometers south of Guingamp near the D 767 road on the border between the Cornouaille and Trégor landscapes . It has been registered as a historical monument ( Monument historique ) since 1964 .
history
The monastery was founded as the fifth daughter monastery of Bégard monastery in 1142 and thus belonged to the filiation of Cîteaux monastery . The monastery owned the courtyard of Klahaye and three mills. After the incorporation of the Duchy of Brittany it fell into the coming . In the middle of the 18th century the monastery was rebuilt. Around 1750 the buildings were renovated in the classicism style . During the French Revolution , the monastery came to an end in 1791 and then fell into ruin.

The walls and facade of the classical church have been preserved.
