The monastery Droiteval is a former abbey in the French region of Grand Est . In addition to a smaller part of the building, the abbey still has the chapel , which is still in use and is equipped with a modern organ. The abbey was founded in the 12th century as a nunnery of the Cistercian order (15 km north of Clairefontaine monastery and 25 km east of Morimond monastery ). From 1453 until it was dissolved by the French Revolution in 1790, the monastery was inhabited by Cistercian monks.

Today Droiteval is a district of the municipality of Claudon in the Vosges department and a popular tourist destination. Right next to the chapel there is an artist's courtyard , in which the Dutch painter and sculptor Mirjam Bijvank works. There you can book guest rooms and take painting and drawing courses. There is also a larger castle-like property in Droiteval, which has an interesting architectural structure: It is built directly behind a dam .
