The Monastery Le-Bouschet-Vauluisant (Vallis lucida), not to be confused with Vauluisant Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in the Puy-de-Dôme region Auvergne in France . The monastery is located in the municipality of Yronde-et-Buron around 15 km north of Issoire in a creek valley.

history

The monastery was founded in 1192 by Robert IV, Count of Auvergne, on the basis of a vow, but the General Chapter of the Cistercian Order asked for a new building because the original buildings did not comply with the rules. Roger's son, Count Guido II , made a major donation in 1221 and is therefore considered the second donor. The monastery was occupied by the Féniers monastery and thus belonged to the filiation of the Morimond primary abbey . The monastery served as a burial place for the descendants of Robert IV. It came to an end in 1791 during the French Revolution . As a result, it was canceled. The stones of the monastery are built into buildings in the area.

Buildings and plant

Some remains of the monastery walls, the gate and part of the monastery walls have been preserved. Parts of the movable furnishings have found their way into the church of Yronde, including a carved altarpiece from the 17th century and an alabaster statue of the Madonna (16th century). A bell from 1320 has been reused in the Buron Chapel.
