Ollignies Monastery
Ollignies Monastery was a Belgian monastery of the Saint Bernard Sisters of Esquermes in Lessines , Ollignies district, in the province of Hainaut , diocese of Tournai , from 1883 to 1942 .
history
The Saint Bernard Sisters of Lille , who were mainly involved in education, founded the Notre Dame Auxiliatrice ("Maria Hilf") monastery in Ollignies (today: Lessines) in Belgium as a refuge in view of the religious hostility of the Third Republic . The motherhouse fled there in 1904 from the law separating church and state (with the dissolution of the monasteries) and stayed there until 1942. Then the monastery (motherhouse) was relocated to Armentières and from 1948 to the newly founded monastery La Cessoie .
