The Santa Fe Monastery (Sancta Fides; Fuente Clara) was a Cistercian abbey originally in Alcolea de Cinca around 30 km northwest of Fraga in the province of Huesca in Catalonia , Spain , near the Rio Cinca , and later 9 km southwest of Zaragoza .
history
The monastery, founded in 1223 as the daughter of the Bonnefont monastery near Saint-Gaudens in France from the filiation of the Morimond primary abbey , was moved to the city of Saragossa in 1341 (or 1343) , around 9 km southwest of the center , because of the banditry in this area , laid between Cuarte and Cadrete on the Rio Huerva . The abolition took place either in 1808 or only when the monastery was abolished by the Mendizábal government in 1835.
Buildings and plant
Nothing has been preserved from the medieval complex near Saragossa. The existing monumental church with a dome and a facade tower was built in 1774 or 1778 and was completed in 1788. The church and main gate were declared a Monumento Nacional ( Bien de Interés Cultural ) in 1979 .
