The Vaux-la-Douce Monastery (Dulcis vallis) is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Voisey in the Haute-Marne department , Grand Est region , in France . The monastery is about 14 kilometers south of Bourbonne-les-Bains .

history

The monastery, founded by Adelheid von Lorraine in 1111, was abandoned and became the grangie of Clairefontaine Monastery , which established a daughter abbey here in 1168. Thus Vaux-la-Douce belonged to the filiation of the Primary Abbey Morimond . During the French Revolution , the monastery came to an end in 1791. The system almost completely disappeared in the period that followed.

Buildings and plant

The 25-inhabitant village of Vaux-la-Douce, consecrated to the Apostle Bartholomew , is the lay chapel of the monastery, built in 1720, which after the Revolution became the schoolhouse of the former municipality of Vaux-la-Douce and was only returned to cult in 1967.
