Klosteramthaus

The Wennigsen monastery building is a monument in the municipality of Wennigsen . It is one of the striking buildings in the historic town center that characterize the townscape. The building stands immediately southwest of the monastery and monastery church in the street Klosteramthof , house number 5. Today it is used as a hotel. In front of the building there is also a maple tree , which is registered as a natural monument.

Building

It is a two-storey half-timbered construction with bricked-up compartments and triangular gables under a steep double hipped roof. The building stands on a sandstone base. Above the entrance is the year 1781 and the signet of the Hanover ruling house.

The monastery office has had numerous functions in the course of its history.

Office building

After the monastery office founded after the Thirty Years War was dissolved, the monastery office building served as the residential building of the bailiff and for the administration of the Wennigsen monastery and the Wennigsen office until 1858 .

Rectory

From 1898 the clergyman of the monastery lived in the house. Before that, the monastery recipe served as a rectory.

Forester's house

Before the Wennigsen Monastery Forestry Office was added to the Westerhaus Forestry Office, the responsible forester lived there and used the rooms on the ground floor as administrative offices.

Johanniterhaus

The building has been a conference hotel since 2000. It bears the name Johanniterhaus , as the Order of the Knights of St. John leases it and uses it for its own events.

Natural monument

There is a registered natural monument on the northwest corner of the building. It is a maple that is listed as ND-H 24 by the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, Hanover region .
