The house at Klosterbergestraße 18 is a listed building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located on the west side of Klosterbergestraße not far from the confluence of Basedowstraße in Magdeburg's Buckau district . The building, which is also a listed building, borders on Klosterbergestraße 20 to the south .

Architecture and history

The as timber-framed building built house was in the years 1888/90 by the master mason Gustav Delete , according to other sources of Gustav Lösecke built. Initially, the building was designed as a three-story structure. A fourth floor was added later. In addition to the front building, a side wing and a rear building were also built. The symmetrical front facade is characterized by two box oriels , which are located in the outer window axes in front of the first and second floors and which are used as a balcony on the third floor. Above the bay windows, the eaves protrudes a little so that they appear as two flat risalits . The entrance to the house is offset slightly to the south.

The framework is provided with St. Andrew's crosses and the facade is decorated with elements of the Italian Renaissance style. The compartments are lined with red and yellow bricks and provided with patterns. The frames of the window openings and truss struts are faceted. There are strong catenary cornices between the floors, which divide the facade horizontally. The cornice of the first floor protrudes the furthest.

The building is covered with a flat roof . On the posts of the windows of the attic store consoles on which the box cornice of the roof is located. The eaves cornice is used to roof the attic windows.

The house is part of the listed street chain Klosterbergestraße 13, 16–28, 30 . It is considered well-preserved example of a so-called Rayon house , which according to the II. Fortress Rayon of the fortress Magdeburg existing zoning restrictions are built so had that it could be necessary, resigned quickly.
