architecture

The building of the former Kreuzherrenkloster dates back to the 15th century and was extensively rebuilt and expanded at the end of the 17th century. Today the property (the former farm wing) is a simple brick building with two storeys and eleven window axes in an irregular arrangement. The suspected gable gate made of Aachener Blaustein on the left side originally formed the connection between the monastery and the utility wing , which is now divided by three differently designed house entrances. Decorative wall anchors adorn the facade , in the lower roof area at regular intervals. A gable roof with a curtain eaves gutter completes the building.

As a characteristic brick building from the late 17th or early 18th century and belonging to the overall architectural ensemble of the historical square development of the Wickrath market, it is worth preserving for reasons of local history and urban development.
