Thorsteinn Einarsson (born March 19, 1996 in Reykjavík ) is an Austrian - Icelandic musician who became known through the casting show The Great Chance .

Life

Einarsson comes from Reykjavík and came to Salzburg for the first time at the age of five , where his father, Einar Th. Gudmundsson, studied singing. After three years his parents separated and he moved back to Reykjavík with his mother. At the age of eleven he founded the first band. At the age of 14 he came back to Salzburg, where his father was now working as an opera singer (bass baritone). After attending compulsory school, he began an apprenticeship in cooking.

2014-2017

2014

In 2014, at the age of 18, he took part in the casting show The Big Chance and was the only man to reach the final, where he finally finished fourth. With his own final song Leya, he came into the top 10 of the Austrian charts .

2015

Thorsteinn was honored for the song Leya at the Amadeus Awards 2015 in the category Songwriter of the Year.

2016

His album 1 was released in early 2016 ; (read: one continued) which immediately reached # 6 on the Austrian album charts. In the same year he played on the main stage at the Donauinselfest , the largest open-air festival in Europe. The songs extracted from it have been streamed over ten million times, have over two million views on YouTube and have so far had over 50,000 appearances on Austrian and German radios.

2017

This was followed by sold-out concerts, TV appearances at home and abroad and an ever-growing fan base. In May 2017, the then 21-year-old Einarsson went on tour in Austria with the German band Söhne Mannheims .

2018 to date

In 2018 he released Galaxy (release: March 30, 2018), the first single from his second studio album INGI . The album title is Thorsteinn's middle name (Ingi) and stands with an I at the beginning and at the end also for an II . So here the circle comes full circle to his debut album 1; , with which a continuum was promised.
