Kloulklubed is the capital of the administrative state (administrative unit) Peleliu on the island of the same name in the island state of Palau .
geography
The place is on the north end of the island, near the North Beach . The area around Ngalkol is a headland and elevation ( Rois ra Sang / Amangial Ridge ; ⊙ ), which is closed in the north by a fringing reef and continues in the island of Ngedbus , which is only about 500 m further north. The elevation reaches heights of 65 m between Klouklubed and Imelchol Village on the east coast . The North Mangrove Swamp East extends southeast of the village .
history
During World War II the place was a center of the Japanese fleets and the remains of the Japanese command center still stand in the village. There is also a memorial for the Battle of Peleliu in the village.
Personalities
Kloulklubed is also important because the graves of the first President , Haruo Remeliik and the first Chief Justice (Supreme Judge) Mamoru Nakamura are located there. Remeliik was murdered in 1985, Nakamura died of a heart attack in 1992 . Both came from Peleliu and their graves are in the center of the village, near the Governor's Office (Peleliu State Office; ⊙ ).
