Knabenkraut is a Hamburg band founded in 1995 .

history

The band developed partly from Red Letter Day , where three of the four founding members of Knabenkraut ( Oliver Goetzl - vocals and drums, Gerrit Herlyn - guitar and bass and Thomas Overdick - guitar and bass) already played together. The three were supplemented by Björn Steffens (keyboard, guitar and bass).

Carsten Schreiber took over the position of drummer at some of the band's individual concerts, before finally taking over the drums after Knabenkraut's second club tour in 1998. Melanie Hamdorff joined the band as a guest singer in 2001: she has been a permanent member of the Knabenkraut since 2003, five backing vocals and a duet on the first album and a later tour of Japan, where she was also responsible for the bass live. Johnny J. Müske completed the band as bassist in 2004.

The band has released two studio albums so far and is featured on several international compilations. True Love Can Wait , the first studio album, was recorded at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and was released in 2002 on Marsh-Marigold Records , an indie pop label founded by Oliver Goetzl in 1988. The album gave the band a Japan tour with a total of 10 concerts. Someone Still Loves You, Knabenkraut , the second album by the seven-piece band, was released on October 10, 2014 on Marsh-Marigold Records.

Orchid's style is indie pop .
