Knockbrack

The Court Tomb of Knockbrack ( Irish An Cnoc Breac also Labbadermot or Sallerna Beach) is located about 1.6 km west of Cleggan on the Aughrus Peninsula in the Connemara region , right on the beach of Sellerna Bay in County Galway in Ireland . Court Tombs are among the megalithic chamber tombs ( English chambered tombs ) of the British Isles . With around 400 specimens, they are found almost exclusively in Ulster in the north of Ireland or in Northern Ireland .

The megalithic chamber, which is unusually narrow for a court tomb, is only 0.8 m wide and the west-east-facing complex is around four meters long and half-filled with sand , shells and small stones. It is covered by an unusually long and protruding ceiling slab made of local stone material. The sides each form three bearing stones.

Nearby is the Cleggan Court Tomb .
