Knut Aufermann

Knut Aufermann (* 1972 in Hagen ) is a German radio artist , musician , composer and curator .

life and work

Knut Aufermann studied chemistry in Hamburg and Potsdam before moving to London in 1998 to do his master's degree in sound engineering and sonic arts at Middlesex University . From 2002 to 2005 Aufermann coordinated Community Radio Resonance FM 104.4 in London, which specializes in broadcasting artistic radio works. He is a founding member of the Radia Network - a network of independent radios and artist groups. Since 2005 he has been living in Germany again as a freelance radio artist. Knut Aufermann works together with Sarah Washington under the project names Mobile Radio and Tonic Train. In his live performances, Knut Aufermann mainly uses feedback as an artistic means. With mobile radio he was u. a. guest at Transmediale 2011. In 2012 the work Mobile Radio BSP was created, a nearly three-month radio program as part of the 30th Biennale in São Paulo . In 2016 Aufermann was the artistic director of the international radio art festival Radio Revolten in Halle (Saale) . In 2018 he performed with the London Improvisers Orchestra .
