Knut Bleicher

Knut Bleicher (born April 22, 1929 in Berlin ; † January 13, 2017 in Hamburg ) was a German economist .

Life

Knut Bleicher studied business administration at the Free University of Berlin from 1949 to 1952, after which he was assistant and post-doctoral candidate with Erich Kosiol . From 1966 to 1984 he was a professor at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen , from 1984 until his retirement in 1994 he was professor at the University of St. Gallen , from 2004 to 2009 Chairman of the Advisory Board and Scientific Director of the St. Gallen Business School and co-founder in 2005 of the Society for Integrated Management in St. Gallen.

In addition, Bleicher was the chief editor of the magazine for organization and was also an honorary member of the Society for Organization . His book The Concept of Integrated Management is a standard work of modern management theory and has been published in 9 editions since 1991 (9th edition 2017).

The holistic approach of the St. Gallen management concept developed by Knut Bleicher and colleagues from the University of St. Gallen has had a lasting impact on the thinking and acting of numerous managers. Executives find here a design framework for securing the future of their company, which should enable them to integrate all company activities into an overall concept.
