Knut Hickethier

Knut Hickethier (born July 24, 1945 in Golßen / Niederlausitz ) is a German media scientist .

Life

Knut Hickethier studied art education at the HdK Berlin from 1965 to 1970 . He then studied literature and media studies with Friedrich Knilli at the TU Berlin . In 1979 he received his doctorate there on the history of television programs in the Federal Republic. After his habilitation in 1982 in Osnabrück, teaching and research activities followed. From 1990 to 1994 he was a substitute professor in Marburg. From 1994 until his retirement in 2010, Hickethier was Professor of Media Studies at the Institute for Media and Communication at the University of Hamburg .

From 1982 to 1994 he worked as a television, film and radio critic for epd / church and radio (today: epd medien ), epd film and other newspapers and magazines. From 1974 to 2016 Hickethier was editor and co-editor of the magazine Ästhetik & Kommunikation .

As editor he is in charge of the publication series Contributions to Media Aesthetics and Media History and Language, Literature, Media (both LIT Verlag, Münster / Hamburg) and, as co-editor, the film series Aufblende (Hitzeroth Verlag, Marburg).

Knut Hickethier is married.
