Koß (unit)
Koß was an Indian measure of length and mile . Quite different values characterize the measure, especially since there was also the royal Koß. So 42 Koß were calculated on 1 degree at the equator .
On the coast of the Coromandel, also called Gau or Gos , it was 11 Koß, in Malabar 12 Koß and in Surat 10 Koß. The Chinese Koß or Li was 1771.5 Parisian feet (0.32484 meters ) or 575.45 meters long and it corresponded to 193 2/5 Koß to 1 equatorial degree.
- 1 Koß = 1335 Toisen = 1000 Fathoms / Faden = 1 mile = 2601.97 meters (42 3/4 Koß on 1 equatorial degree)
- 3 Koß = 1 mile (German)
- Peshawar 1 King's Koß = 1 ½ miles (English)
According to other information
