The Koasalauf is a traditional cross- country run that takes place every February in the Austrian Tyrol . Cross-country skis and ski sticks are used for skiing .

Course of the race

Every year around 2000 participants from up to 23 countries take part in the run, which begins and ends in St. Johann in Tirol . The Koasalauf is part of the Euroloppet series and is therefore one of the major cross-country skiing events in Europe.

Four races traditionally take place, including

  • 50 km skating / -50 km classic (main race)
  • 28 km of skating
  • 28 km classic

There is also a mini koasal run (children I + II and pupils I + II) on offer, which is free.

Cross-country skiing area

The holiday region of St. Johann, Kirchdorf, Erpfendorf, Oberndorf, in which the race is held, is located in the Leukental at an altitude of 670 meters above sea level. The place has 275 kilometers of cross-country ski trails and 100 kilometers of hiking trails, two toboggan runs and an ice rink.

Word origin

The name "Koasa" comes from the famous Wilder Kaiser mountain range . However, mountaineers and insiders call it Koasa, and it is one of the most beautiful and diverse areas in Tyrol.

Koasa Stadium

The Koasastadion cross-country skiing center is located in St. Johann, Tyrol . The Koasastadion offers a cross-country school, cross-country ski rental, changing rooms / showers, cross-country parlor (café), sun terrace, free parking spaces and the wax parlor.
