The Carola Medal was donated on September 17, 1892 by King Albert of Saxony on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Albertverein .

The award in gold , silver or bronze was awarded on the proposal of Queen Carola to members of the Albertverein and to all persons who had made special merits in the field of helpful charity in war or in peace.

The minting took place in the Muldenhütten mint .

Appearance

The front of the round medal shows the bust of the Queen, turned to the right, with the inscription CAROLA KOENIGIN VON SACHSEN . For the reverse there were two types of medal, one after the other. First, enclosed by two diamond branches , the ten-line inscription GESTIFTET TO THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ALBERT ASSOCIATION IN SAXONY 1867-1892 FOR HELPFUL CHARMING LOVE could be read. From February 26, 1915 on the back of the second type read GESTIFTET FÜR HILFREICHE NEARLOVE . The diameter of the first type was 27.9 mm, that of the second 27.95 mm. Carrying method

The award was worn by men on a yellow ribbon with black and blue side stripes on the left chest and by women on a ribbon made of the same color on the left shoulder. Since the appearance of the second type, the award could also be presented in conjunction with a strap buckle . During the First World War , the ribbons could still be decorated with a different strap for women and men with the inscription WORLD WAR 1914–18 .

Award numbers

The type 1 of the medal was awarded about 46 times in gold, 1000 times in silver and 1000 times in bronze from 1892 to 1915, the type 2 from 1915 to 1925 by the Albertverein six times in gold, 300 times in silver and 860 times in bronze.
