Koberstädter Forest Marathon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Koberstädter Wald-Marathon is organized every year on the last Sunday in August by the Sportgemeinschaft Egelsbach 1874 e. V. organized in cooperation with SV Erzhausen near Darmstadt . The name is derived from the archaeological site of Koberstadt , after which the forest is named, which stretches from Egelsbach to Darmstadt-Kranichstein . The run, which was carried out according to the usual IAAF competition rules , took place for the first time in 1978. In addition to the marathon distance, there is also a half marathon , which traditionally attracts the majority of runners.

The marathon begins at the Egelsbach sports stadium. After crossing the Bundesautobahn 661 , the circular route leads on slightly hilly terrain exclusively through forest and is pleasant to walk thanks to the wide paths. The marathon runners must complete the course twice. The time is taken using the ChampionChip method. A team evaluation takes place in both the marathon and the half marathon . No cash or material prizes will be awarded.

The number of participants has consistently been more than 1500 runners in recent years. In the marathon, between 100 and 200 runners reach the goal (e.g. 2007: 181, thereof 161 men and 20 women; 2006: 173, thereof 147 men and 26 women; 1993: 115; 1992: 100; 1991: 111).

The course records stand at 2:30:48 hours (men, 1985) and 2:59:15 hours (women, 1988).
