The football department has just over 300 members, around half of whom are children and young people.
In 1996, the 1st team from the District League West rose to the District Oberliga (6th division) and two more years later in the Landesliga Süd (5th division). From there the SpVgg succeeded. Erzhausen after two years of promotion to the Oberliga Hessen (4th league).
The coach in the Hessenliga was the former Bochum and Frankfurt Bundesliga professional Thomas Epp . As a player u. a. the former Bundesliga professional Thorsten Flick active in Erzhausen. At the end of the 2005/06 season, despite the sporting relegation, the forced relegation to the Landesliga Süd, followed a year later by relegation to the district league.
After the 2011/12 season, the first team was relegated to the ninth class Kreisliga A Darmstadt.
