Helong
The city of Helong ( Chinese 和 龙 市 , Pinyin Hélóng Shì , Korean 화룡 시 和 龍 市Hwaryong-Si ) is located in the southeast of the Yanbian Autonomous District of the Koreans in the Jilin Province of the People's Republic of China . Helong has an area of 5,069 km², approx. 210,000 inhabitants (end of 2004), and borders North Korea in the south . Helong has been an independent city since 1993.
Administrative structure
At the community level, Helong is made up of three street districts and eight large communities . These are:
- Minhui Street District (民 惠 街道);
- Guangming Street District (光明 街道);
- Road quarter Wenhua (文化街道);
- Greater community Bajiazi (八家子镇), 4,819 inhabitants;
- Greater community Fudong (福洞镇), 188.67 km², 13,761 inhabitants;
- Greater community Toudao (头道镇), 518.76 km², 29,634 inhabitants;
- Xicheng municipality (西 城镇), 114.61 km², 11,004 inhabitants;
- Nanping Municipality (南 坪镇), 3,495 inhabitants;
- Dongcheng Municipality (东 城镇), 148.99 km², 9,940 inhabitants;
- Greater community Chongshan (崇善镇), 437.19 sq km, 3,604 inhabitants;
- Longcheng municipality (龙 城镇), 1,620.7 km², 26,635 inhabitants.
There are also three so-called "forest offices" in Helong, which control the entire forest management under which the forest areas are divided. Their position vis-à-vis the city government is similar to that of independent municipalities, large municipalities and street districts. They are:
- Helong Forest Office (和 龙 林业局);
- Bajiazi Forestry Office (八家 子 林业局);
- Helong Municipal Forestry Bureau (和 龙 市 林业局).
