Tumen (Yanbian)

Tumen (图 们 市Túmén Shì ) is an independent city in the Yanbian Autonomous District of the Koreans in the Jilin Province of the People's Republic of China . The administrative area of Tumen has an area of 1,146.6 km² and about 130,000 inhabitants (end of 2004). Tumen borders North Korea over a length of 60.6 km . The border runs in the middle of the Tumen Jiang River . Tumen has been an independent city since March 1965.
Administrative structure
At the community level, Tumen consists of three street districts and four large communities . These are:
- Road neighborhood Xiang Hang (向上街道), 4.32 km², 26,745 inhabitants;
- Street district Xinhua (新华 街道), 6.3 km², 23,205 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
- Street district Yuegong (月宫 街道), 4.32 km², 25,864 inhabitants;
- Yueqing municipality (月 晴 镇), 328.95 km², 14,102 inhabitants;
- Greater community Shixianl (石砚镇), 202.3 km², 22,297 inhabitants;
- Chang'an Municipality (长安 镇), 234.7 km², 9,903 inhabitants;
- Large community Liangshui (凉水 镇), 370.74 km², 13,214 inhabitants.

Infrastructure
In October 2016, a new bridge between China and North Korea was built to replace the old one.
